You will be charmed by its numerous twelfth and thirteenth century buildings of which 58 are listed, by the “Eagle of the Ramparts” and the “Legend of the Knights” shows, and the Rose Garden a remarkable classic garden where you can admire the « Rosa Gallica officinalis», the Provins rose brought back by Thibault IV Count of Champagne from a crusade, by the “Banquet des Troubadours” to feast in medieval style ( reservations only).

Provins is a unique witness to the 12th and 13th century Champagne Fairs which were the beginning of the economic and cultural exchanges in Europe. It minted its own money : the Provins coinage which was recognised throughout medieval Europe.

Famous people have marked its history : from Charlemagne to Thibault IV , and from Proust , to Victor Hugo and Balzac.
